“The World is not Worthy”

Hebrews 11:37-38

Introduction

The Big Idea– As a believer, you must not expect this life to be easy, because this world is not your home.

The Big Picture– Throughout the Bible, from Abel (Genesis 4; Hebrews 11:4) to the Apostle John (Revelation 1:9), believers have been treated harshly and pushed to the margin, if not excluded (or eliminated) altogether.

(11:37) Sometimes, people of faith must live through—or die in—the most difficult conditions imaginable.

(11:38b) In some cases, people of faith are forced to live in the most difficult places on earth.

The Bottom Line (11:38a)- “Civilized society was not fit for [such believers]” (F. F. Bruce).  Why is that the case?
