“For the Team and the Player-Coach”

Hebrews 12:1-3

Introduction–

The Big Idea– In “the faith race,” your Christian teammates and Christ are cheering you every step of the way.

The Big Picture– “The great cloud of witnesses surrounding us” (i.e., the many believers already in the “Hall of Faith” in chapter 11; 12:1a)

(12:1b) To run “the faith race” God’s way, you must strip away all the sin holding you back.

(12:2) To run “the faith race” God’s way, you must focus on Jesus and copy His endurance.

(12:3) To run “the faith race” God’s way, like Jesus, you must not grow weary and lose heart.

The Bottom Line– In case you haven’t figured it out, “the faith race” is a spiritual marathon.  Are you “in training?”  The team and the coach expect no less than your best, since they did the same before you!
