“A Biblical Perspective on Work”

Genesis 2:15, 3:17-19

Introduction

The Big Idea– Work in this fallen world isn’t a “necessary evil,” but it is God’s intention and it’s “cursed.”

The Big Picture– As the highpoint of creation, mankind—male and female—is made in God’s image and commanded to “subdue” the earth (1:26-28).

(3:1-7) What happens in between: Tragically, sin enters the picture and…

(3:17-19) Because of sin and the fall, work—and where you work—has been “cursed” ever since.

The Bottom Line– As long as you live—or until Jesus comes back, whichever happens first—the work God has assigned you to do will often be “laborious.”  That is where faithfulness comes into play!
